Takoradi, April 18, GNA- The Takoradi Central Police on Wednesday arrested a 23-year-old-electrician, Samuel Kojo Sekyi, alias Asare, for allegedly stealing things and money belonging to Mr. Samuel Derby and Madam Juliana Aacht.

Mr. Huseini Awiniba, Takoradi District Crime Officer, told the Ghana News Agency on Thursday that the suspect was arrested at the Esam Forex Bureau in Takoradi, upon a tip off.

Mr. Awiniba said last month, Mr. Derby reported to the Police that his residence at Windy Ridge in Takoradi was broken into and computer laptop, television set, communication equipment and 100 Ghana Cedis were stolen.

Mr. Awiniba said Madam Aacht on Wednesday also reported to the police that her residence at Windy Ridge was broken into and her mobile phone, computer laptop and 4,000 Euros were stolen.

Mr. Awiniba said Forex Bureau operators in Takoradi were alerted, and the suspect was apprehended when he went to the Essam Forex Bereau to transact business.

The Police Officer said 2,700 Euros were retrieved from the suspect, who claimed that he had deposited 450 Euros in his account with Stanbic Bank in Takoradi.

Mr. Awinba said that when the police conducted a search at Sekyi’s residence near the Effiakuma night market, five laptop bags, some mobile phones and other items were retrieved.

The police officer said Sekyi, who claimed to be a laptop repairer, said that the bags belonged to his clients.

Mr. Awiniba appealed to people, who had their rooms broken into, to report to the Takoradi Central Police Station and indentify their missing items.
