The only Independent Presidential Candidate, Jacob Osei Yeboah a.k.a, JOY, together with the family are to bid the father the late Nana Kwaku Duah, farewell on Sunday and Monday, the 21st and 22nd April, 2013 at Sabin Akrofrom, 10Km off Kumasi Obuasi Road.

He made this known when he paid courtesy calls on Monday 15th April, 2013 to President John Dramani Mahama at the Flagstaff House, Former President J.A. Kuffour, Nana Akuffo Addo, the NPP Flag bearer, Dr. Abu Sakara, the CPP Flagbearer and Dr. Paa Kwasi Nduom’, the PPP Flagbearer and other political stakeholders in the country.

The delegation were a combined family members from both paternal and maternal, headed by Nana owusu Ansah on behalf of the paramount Chief of Kokofu Traditional Council. The delegation had two main objectives, that is to announce the funeral dates for his Dad and Mum for the nation to mourn with the families and secondly to implore political stakeholders to sustain the success chalked by Ghana with the Presidential election 2012 contestation at the Supreme Court.

JOY congratulated Nana Akuffo Addo for his decision and stated that his action has given a ray of hope not only to Ghana but the African continent, with the trail blazing election contestation which has been emulated by countries such as Kenya, Sierra Leone and Uganda. JOY shared and was of the opinion that the issue at stake is neither the Petitioners nor the Respondents winning or losing.

He however stated that the issue is how to sustain the object of peace and fighting the arch-enemy of Africa that exchanges destructive ammunitions for our natural resources and wealth.

He suggested to Nana Addo to ensure that as the case was started on a good note it should even end on a better note by all parties involved, especially to respect the decision by the Supreme Court. He suggested that Nana Addo must endeavour to share his political experiences through a book from the period of political freedom fighters to consolidating democracy in Ghana and the African continent. “I cannot wait to read this book” JOY remarked.

Nana Addo, was most grateful to the delegation for the honour done him and promised to respect the decision by the Supreme Court and also to implore his supporters to do the same.

JOY equally congratulated President Mahama for his courage and love for country which enabled him to despise eminent vilifications in order to consolidate Ghana’s democracy thereby equally given a ray of hope to Ghana and Africa. JOY appreciated the fact that President Mahama and Nana Addo are the finest politicians and architects of consolidating Africa’s democracy.

JOY admittedly acknowledged that any of the presidential candidates could have found himself in such a state of uncertainty like President Mahama, in such a contestation that legally and constitutionally he is innocent by the declaration. JOY argues that the electoral laws need to be reviewed such that Electoral Commission must be made the first Respondent in such election contestation.

President Mahama was equally grateful and promised government delegation during JOY’s Dads and Mums funerals respectively. He was of the view of his resolve to fight the arch enemy of Ghana and Africa and would respect the decision by the Supreme Court. President Mahama appreciated how JOY sees the case and hopes that most Ghanaians would appreciate the same.

Former President J.A. Kuffour together with the other flagbearers equally appreciated the courtesy calls on them and they promised to use their influence quietly to sustain the success chalked so far. Most concluded that the only institution to be blamed for the current state of apprehension after election is no other than the Electoral Commission headed by Dr. Afari Gyan. However, Ghanaians have demonstrated that they are aptly above Electoral Commissions schemes.

JOY was grateful to have had the opportunity to give his Dad a fitting burial as required by nature and hopes that the peace in the country will be sustained to enable the young to undertake their God given mandatory duty for parents.
