The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bodi Constituency of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Ahi Sampson has asked the opposition NPP to think properly before saying anything against the government.

The MP took into account the number of attacks and insults melted out to President Mahama and the NDC government for given the youth the opportunity to serve in public office.

He said the NDC party as a social democrat believes in the development of youth in the country hence appointing the youth into leadership positions.

Hon. Ahi Sampson who was recently appointed by President Mahama as deputy Minister designate for Water Resource, Works and Housing took a swipe at some members of NPP for their utterances in respect to youth who are first degree holders to assume leadership positions in the NDC administration.

According to the MP, leadership was not about credentials but how to deliver on mandate given and help the president achieve his vision in the development of the country.

The Hon. Member of Parliament was speaking to this reporter in an interview and called on the youth to examine the speeches of NPP and reject them in any elections since they don’t believe in youth development.

He recollected that during the Rawlings and Mill’s administrations, scores of youth were given the opportunity and as a result became some leading political figures in the country today.

He reminded members of NPP including their communications director Nana Akomea that former president Kufour appointed people without any qualification in his administration citing the example of Hon. I.C. Quaye for Greater Accra Regional Minister under erstwhile Kufour administration.

The NDC member of the legislature challenged the members of the opposition NPP to compare the two major political parties who have huge number of youth serving in government.

The members of the opposition New Patriotic Party have launched several attacks on the Mahama led administration for appointing youth who they claimed were only first degree holders in his government.

They lashed some of the deputy ministers designate as lacking the experience to work in the public sector and give directives to people working under them who are PHD holders.

Some of the name of these deputy Ministers designate receiving serious opposition from the NPP includes Hon. Ayi Sampson, Mr. Murtala Ibrahim, Victoria Hammah and Gifa Gomashie.
