General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly called Sir John, has described the 100 days of President John Dramani Mahama as “abysmal”, claiming the country is bereft of a proper leadership.
Sir John, in an interview on Radio Gold on Wednesday, labeled President Mahama as a “danger boy”, stating that he is driving the nation in the wrong direction.
He explained that in the midst of the economic crises crippling the nation, President Mahama cannot be praised for good governance because to him, the President has failed to address the concerns of the citizenry.
In his view, the country, under President John Mahama’s administration, is gradually earning a reputation as a highly indebted poor nation.
Due to the inability of the President to salvage the economy from its present dwindling state, the NPP scribe stated that the nation is heading towards HIPC (Highly Indebted Poor Country).
According to him, the President’s 100 days have revealed that the nation is afloat and lost its bearing.
Explaining the current economic situation, he said “this country is rudderless. The country is like the bicycle on which the “danger boy”, John Dramani Mahama, is sitting…with no break and we have nobody. We are bereft of leadership. So, there is clearly a paralysis of leadership in this country and I think that John Dramani Mahama is not a happy person in this country.”
He therefore dared the President to prove to Ghanaians the work that his government has done since inception.
Scoring the government zero in its 100 days, Sir John sought to find out the President’s evidence, asserting that “he must tell us because I cannot see it. Look, since the IEA debate, he promised us that the ‘Dum Sor, Dum Sor” was going to be a thing of the past. Since the IEA debate…we are still where we were. So, let the President tell us what he said he’s trying to do and that he’s not been successful.”
“This water crisis, how long have we not had it? Let the President come and tell us what he’s doing or what he’s done to alleviate these hardships from us…So for me [for me], I have not seen anything and the President has not demonstrated what he said he’s trying hard for us to have confidence in him.” he concluded.
