A Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has rubbished the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia’s call that the international media must also come on board to telecast the 2012 election petition at the Supreme Court.
According him, the NDC General Secretary raised issues when NPP and some renowned lawyers appealed to the Chief Justice to allow proceedings to be telecast live on TV to ease tension.
“He (Asiedu Nketia) uttered that the court proceedings that will be telecast and aired on TV and radio will not help issues, but after court agreeing on telecasting the proceedings, he is now calling for BBC, CNN and Aljazeera, what kind of person is he?, so how do we argue with them (NDC). So how do we (the NPP) do any proper debate with this kind of argument they are making?
“…If he (Asiedu Nketia) is calling for BBC, CNN and Aljazeera, why don’t he call for the Iranian and Afghanistan TV to cover the proceedings as well. Asiedu Nketia has no principles. They (the NDC) never liked the idea of the live coverage and now they are praising it?” he quizzed.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia after Tuesday’s historic live telecast of the 2012 election petition by the NPP against the Electoral Commission (EC) and President Mahama said “we are very happy now that the court has taken a decision to revert it earlier decision and to allow television coverage.
“…We (the NDC) are insisting that, other television stations from outside Ghana like the CNN, Aljazeera and BBC and others; we are encouraging them to come on board so that the proceedings can be telecast live for our citizens outside Ghana”.
Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM, John Boadu said the live telecast of the court proceeding would rather expose Asiedu Nketia of his numerous deceits he runs in the media since most supporters by then rely on their party executives to feed them with information from the court.
“After court, you know how Asiedu Nketia talks in the media, he always sends out false information from the court including their party members to their supporters. This will help expose them,” he claimed.
