I Suspect NPP Smuggled Documents Into The Court Room—Asiedu Nketia

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of smuggling into the courtroom, documents to support their case in court.

According to him, “you (NPP) have tendered in documents, then when there was a break and he went out. I want to suspect that that was where some document was smuggled into the court room and he started referring to it, before was compelled to tender it.”

Hearing of the substantive case of the election petition brought before the Supreme Court by some members of the New Patriotic Party namely; Nana Akufo Addo, Dr Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, commenced on Wednesday April 17.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was the first to be called to the witness box where he gave evidence in support of the affidavits served the court in connection with the case.

The NDC General Secretary noted that he felt buoyed by the court proceedings and was positive that “this case is about nothing.”

“Yesterday, we made a case that NPP is not ready to begin the case. They didn’t agree with us, they went assigning several reasons why they couldn’t start that case. It is significant that Dr Bawumia himself admitted that some of the documents he was referring to were actually updated last night; which meant that he wasn’t ready yesterday.”

Johnson Asiedu Nketia further reiterated that the NPP’s case was crumbling because “they (NPP) have run away from all the allegations made so far and they are now restricting themselves to only four areas.”
