The Ghana Football Association has pledged to continue to enhance its relationship with FIFpro after meeting officials of world players’ union in Accra.

The Ghana Football Association has pledged to continue to enhance its relationship with FIFpro after meeting officials of world players’ union in Accra.

Two FIFPro officials Stephane Burckhalter, the Secretary General for FIFPro Africa and Stefan Saint Raymond, Head of Communication for FIFPro Africa are in the country on a three-day working visit.

The duo are in Ghana to assess the working conditions of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), FIFpro’s arm in the country.

They met with GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi and other football executives including George Afriyie, Felix Ansong and Emmanuel Kyeremeh at a meeting in Accra on Tuesday.

Also present at the meeting were executives of PFAG Anthony Baffoe, Solomon Torson, Kwame Ayew, Sammy Kuffuor and Augustine Arhinful.

They discussed welfare issues affecting Ghanaian footballers both at home and abroad and examined ways of improving the welfare of players in the country.

FIFPro delegation were made to witness the deliberations of the GFA’s Player Status Committee as two members of PFAG Kwame Ayew and Anthony Baffoe serve on the committee to represent the interest of players in the country.

GFA President Nyantakyi was delighted with FIFpro’s visit to Ghana insisting that the welfare of the players in the country is paramount to the federation.

“We are delighted with the visit FIFpro officials Mr. Burckhalter and Mr Raymond to Ghana. It is a good opportunity for us to share ideas on how to improve the lot of players,” Nyantakyi said.

“The welfare of Ghanaian players is of common interest to all of us. If we get our players to play under the best conditions it will benefit the country, the local league and our national teams in the long run.

“We already have a good relationship with the PFAG and we have some of them serving on one of our key committees, the Player Status Committee, that directly deals with issues affecting players.

“As we continue to share ideas we will continue to enhance the relationship between the GFA and the PFAG thus helping the players in Ghana.”

The FIFpro officials will end their three-day working visit to the country on Wednesday after observing the work of the PFAG.

The officials of world players’ union used the opportunity to hold a two-day seminar with the staff of the PFAG on topics like membership drive, player development, player education and accountability.
