Agona-Nkwanta District calls for public support to improve education

Mr Joseph Dofoyenah, Ahanta West DCE Agona-Nkwanta (W/R) April 18, GNA- Mr Joseph Dofoyenah, Ahanta West District Chief Executive, on Wednesday called on the people to support the District Assembly to raise the standard of education in the area.

He made the call at the 4th Quadrennial and 51st District Delegates Conference of District Ghana National Association of Teachers at Agona-Nkwanta.

The conference was on the theme: ‘Education in Crisis: Achieving Quality Pre-Tertiary Education, the Role and Challenges of Stakeholders.’

Mr Dofoyenah said the District Assembly is doing its best to reverse falling standards of education in the area.

He said a lot would be achieved if the people collaborate with the Assembly at all levels of education.

Mr Dofoyenah said the Assembly is also doing its best improve the results of the Basic Education Certificate Examination in the District.

Speaking on the theme of the conference, Mrs Rebecca Efiba Dadzie, former Western Regional Director of Education, said the improvement of education should be the responsibility of everybody.

She said everybody is a stakeholder in education and everyone is important in the education process.

Mrs Dadzie said the people, therefore, have to work with educational authorities to produce competent and productive citizens.

She asked teachers to exhibit professional competency and avoid lateness and absenteeism.

Mrs Dadzie said teachers should endeavour to upgrade themselves and desist from talking on mobile phones for hours while at work.
