Kuagbenu Was Not Impressive – Board Chairman

Chairman of the National Service Scheme, Nkunu Akyea has revealed that Mr. Vincent Kuagbenu was asked to proceed on leave because the board was not impressed with his work and leadership style.

“This is a culmination of issues that started as far back as 2011 and came to a head about a couple of weeks ago about the recent pronouncement [service personnel directing traffic].”

According to Mr. Akyea the service was bound to run into serious problems because of Mr Kuagbenu’s failure to liaise effectively with the board.

“A board works with a Chief Executive and a board gives directives on policy to the organization. If you have the situation where the Chief Executive does not see that role emanating from the board and constantly arrogates to himself the policy roles and does not keep the board properly informed on issues, then you will run into a problem.”

Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Akyea said the board on several occasions made known to Mr. Kuagbenu that the board was not impressed.

The board is set to meet on Wednesday to take a decision on the way forward and provide further directives from the presidency on new appointmets.

Mr. Vincent Kuagbenu was asked to proceed on leave on Monday.
