Two million cedi modern market for Kumasi Abattoir

The Kumasi Abattoir Company is putting up a two million cedi modern meat market to enhance the sales and proper handling of meat products.

The project to be completed within 18 months is financed under a Build Operate and Transfer (BOT) arrangement with the Morasko Construction Company.

Managing Director of the Kumasi Abattoir, Joseph Owusu-Boadi says the initiative is aimed at putting the facility at the forefront quality meat processing and marketing in the West African sub-region.

He says the project will kick off later this year after registration of interest groups in meat processing, especially butchers.

The project when completed will have a community bank, meat market, a supermarket, offices, sanitation facilities among others.

Mr. Owusu-Boadi lamented the poor state of equipment currently in operation and is hopeful continuous investment will ensure the abattoir produces high quality meat for public consumption.
