Takoradi, April 15, GNA – A 20 year-old trader, Mohammed Moro on Monday appeared before a Sekondi District Magistrates’ court for allegedly causing unlawful damage to the staircase of a building valued at GH¢500 belonging to one Masudi Salami.

Moro pleaded guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢ 500 with two sureties to re-appear on April.22.

Prosecuting, Sergeant Francisca Nyarko told the court, presided over by Mr. Samuel Entee, that the complainant, Salami, a Karate coach and the accused were neighbours at Kweikuma, a suburb of Sekondi.

She said at about 08.00 hours on March 10th, 2013, Moro intentionally destroyed the staircase of Salami building.

Sergeant Nyarko said a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested.

She told the court that investigations revealed that the complainant and the accused had a long standing litigation over a parcel of land dividing their houses.

Sergeant Nyarko said in his caution statement that, the accused admitted the offence and claimed that the damaged stairway was not the property of the complainant but belonged to one Aunty Grace, a former tenant at the house of the complainant.

She said according to the accused, Aunty Grace claimed she constructed the steps on the land which belonged to her deceased father.

Sergeant Nyarko said the accused failed to produce the said Aunty Grace during investigations.
