Supreme Court Live Telecast Is Good News For Democracy

Executive Director of the Danquah Institute and a leading member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP),Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court to telecast live the hearing of the Election petition.

The hearing which starts today(Tuesday)16th April, 2013 will be telecast live on radio and television just like the Presidential election petition in Kenya.

One can recall that when the case begun at the Supreme Court, Gabby Asare Otchere Darko advocated for a live telecast of the hearing to avoid controversies after the final decision is made.

He has therefore described the decision which was made by the Chief Justice, Georgina Woode as a welcoming one.

Speaking in an interview during Peace FM’s Evening news, Gabby said the decision will prevent the two parties involved: the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) from engaging in propaganda and criticisms after the hearing.

“With this everybody will see what is going on and will accept the results as it comes. It is very good news and I know that everybody is happy about it”.
