Oba of Benin meets with Edo LG chairmanship candidates

…condemns Fugar mayhem
BENIN—AHEAD of Saturday’s local government elections in Edo State, the Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa, has met with chairmanship candidates in Edo South senatorial district of the state and advised that they should reside in their respective council headquarters when they are voted into power.

The Oba, through the Esogban of Benin Kingdom and Chairman of Benin Forum, Chief David Edebiri, also condemned what he described as the senseless destruction of lives and property in Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area of the state, when supporters of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, clashed in the area. He warned candidates against violent acts in Edo South.

Chief Edebiri explained that the Forum, the mouth piece of the Oba, decided to meet with the candidates in the seven councils in Edo South to warn against violence and also to urge them to replicate the developmental strides of the Adams Oshiomhole-led administration in their respective councils if voted into office.
