Johnson Asiedu Nketia says the live telecast of the election petition case at the Supreme Court would prevent the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) from organising thugs to foment trouble at the court premises.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary was speaking to the media shortly after the Supreme Court adjourned sitting to Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

According to him, NDC sympathisers would always go home unhurt whenever they visit the court since the NPP’s plot to invade the court premise with thugs “has been halted by the decision to telecast proceedings live”.

“People can also watch the proceedings at home and won’t fall victims to the NPP’s trap,” he stressed.

The irony to Mr. Aseidu Nketia’s assertion is that some cane-wielding angry supporters, who were dressed in NDC paraphernalia, besieged the premises of the Supreme Court in Accra apparently to whip members of the opposition NPP some months ago when the Supreme Court started processing the NPP’s petition.
