Christian Award Trust (CAT), an independent charity organization last Friday launched the Christian Awards Night and Gospel All Stars (CANGAX) to encourage the  Christian world to work together to bring permanent relief to the deprived in Ghana.

The maiden edition of the event seeks to honour and recognize notable personalities, individuals and religious bodies among others that have rendered outstanding services to humanity.

‘The CANGAX awards stems from the roots of a West African Nation to revolt our society and nations across the continent of Africa to adopt systematic ways through creativity, dedication and integrity in the spirit of volunteerism and oneness to uplift the menace of the underprivileged and the vulnerable in our society,’ Edward Eminsang Offei, the executive director for CAT said at the launch.

The Various individuals will be awarded from different categories some of which include the CANGAX Personality of the year. The awards, according to the organizers, will honour individuals for their outstanding contribution to the promotion of services to humanity.

‘ We are looking for such personality that when you go through the whole Ghana, we point out to say that this person  has done so much for humanity and not the people who have occupied the media space,’ Rev Nathan Marfo, a member of the governing board and selection committee of the CANCAX award stated.

According to Rev Marfo various measures have been put in place to make the awards more acceptable, therefore the selection committee will go beyond the media space in selecting nominees for the various categories.

‘Some people have the opportunity to occupy the media space such that it makes it difficult to recognize somebody who is very working hard somewhere,’ he said.

Categories for the CANGAX awards include personality of the year, special recognition, community service, women welfare and lifetime achievement in ministry award among others. The nomination list of the CANGAX awards will be out in September.
