Black Stars striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom scored his first goal in six games for Sassuolo as they smoothly edged Reggina 2-0 in the Italian Serie B on Tuesday.

Sassuolo needed to win to maintain a commanding lead at the top of the table and it took a 29th minute strike from the 20-year-old to give them the right impetus for victory.

Boakye had failed to find the back of the net since scoring in the 1-0 win over Cittadella in mid March.

But he carved the opener for Sassuolo just before the half hour mark and Simone Missiroli killed off the game for Sassuolo in the 64th minute.

Boakye’s Ghanaian compatriot Yussif Raman Chibsah lasted the entire duration of the game for Sassuolo.

Boakye has scored ten times this season in the Serie B.
