Arsenal U21 boss Steve Gatting says he wants to look at the replay of the incident that led to Daniel Boateng’s sending off in Monday’s reserves league victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 20-year-old towering center-back got his marching orders in the 61st minute after a challenge on Wolves’ Samir Bihmoutine.

Despite Arsenal’s numerical disadvantage, the Gunners persevered to clinch victory thanks to a Sanchez Watt strike deep into second half stoppage time.

Bihmoutine was played through on goal and was clipped by last-man Boateng just outside the area and the defender was sent off as a results.

Boateng told Gatting he no contact with Bihmoutine but the referee sent him off and Gatting says he will have to look at the clip again to know whether to file an appeal against the decision.

“I’ve not seen the replay. I spoke to Danny and he said that he didn’t touch Samir and that Samir tripped. The referee didn’t see it that way,” he told Arsenal.com.

“Perhaps we got caught a little bit square and it was a last-ditch effort to stop a shot and the referee saw it as a sending off,” he added.

Boateng rejoined Arsenal after he spent the first half of the season with Oxford United.
