Kotoko Under Pressure

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have yet another opportunity to appease their angry fans when they host Ebusua Dwarfs in their Glo Premier League fixture in Kumasi tomorrow.

Despite their FA Cup midweek 3-0 thrashing of lower division side Rainbow FC at the Baba Yara Stadium, their fans are yet to recover fully from their ‘hangover’ state as a result of last Sunday’s Champions League exit.

And it will take not just victory to win back the fans’ broken hearts, but an emphatic one at the very same venue where they failed to advance in the Champions League competition.

Thankfully, they have an injury-free squad and with total support from Executive chairman Dr K.K. Sarpong, Kotoko have no excuse to let their fans down for the second time in seven days in their bid to defend the league title.

But Kotoko’s unimpressive home record makes it difficult to tag them as favourites, especially crossing swords with a team placed fifth on the table, with just two points adrift of the Porcupine Warriors.

Elsewhere, Hearts of Oak will be the guests of Ashgold in Obuasi, while Amidaus host relegation-threatened Tema Youth at Tema.

Liberty Professionals will stay home to battle Abdul Salam Yakubu’s New Edubisae with All Stars playing as guests of RTU.

Berekum Arsenals will travel to the Agyeman Badu Park to face Aduana Stars, while league leaders Medeama play as guests of Heart of Lions in Kpando.

Second placed Berekum Chelsea will host King Faisal at the Golden City Park.
