AIRTEL to launch ‘ARS Season Three” on April 26

Accra, April 12, GNA – Airtel Ghana Limited, organizers of the largest grass root football in Ghana, would on Friday, April 26, launch the third edition of the Airtel Rising Stars dubbed “ARS Season Three”.

The programme which is aimed at unearthing football talents would be organized on zonal basis to cover every part of the country, with a minimum of eight and a maximum of 16 teams participating in each zone.

Kwame Opoku Gyan, Corporate Relations Manager of Airtel Ghana Limited told the media in Accra on Friday, that this year’s zonal competition would kick off on May 24 and end on July 5, whilst the national championship would be held on July 26, 2013.

According to Opoku Gyan, the inter-country version of the ARS would be held between September 2-8, 2013 in Nigeria, after which a four day soccer clinic, fixed for September 10-14 would be held to round up the program.

He said this year’s launch would be graced by former Arsenal legend Tony Adams, following their partnership with Arsenal Football Club in England.

Opoku Gyan said, Arsenal would support the programme with Union of European Football Association (UEFA) trained coaches to assist in training in each of the five markets.

He was confident that, the progarmme would unearth more football talents for the country having discovered Priscilla Okyere, a member of the female Under-17 team, the Black Maidens.
