87,555 pupils seek admission into Unity Schools

ABOUT 87555 pupils, yesterday, sat for entrance examination in 432 centers nationwide for admission into the Federal Government Colleges across the country.

The Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof Promise Okpala, who monitored the exercise in 29 centers in Anambra State, said that barring any unforeseen circumstances, the results of the examination should be ready on Wednesday.

According to him, the results would be sent to the Federal Ministry of Education for final vetting.

Okpala said that Lagos State presented the highest number of candidates with 23,329 while Yobe State has the lowest figure of 86. About 6,211 candidates sat for the examination in Anambra.

The NECO boss, who began the monitoring at the Federal Science and Technical School, Awka, addressed enthusiastic parents who were not allowed to go beyond the school gate, and assured them of the transparency of  the exercise.
