Tema Youth hoping to cash in on U-20 prodigies

Ghana premier league side Tema Youth could end up benefiting the most for giving out five of its players to the national U-20 football team.

Joseph Atama Larweh, Francis Narh, Moses Odjer, Derek Mensah and Jeremiah Akorful are likely to be signed by some clubs in Europe and Northern Africa by the end of the U-20 world cup in Turkey which begins in June.

These five players were key in achieving the silver medal feat at the just ended Africa U-20 Youth Championship in Algeria.

Chief Executive Officer of Tema Youth Winfred Osei said he is “delighted about [the] in coming prospects”.

He told JOY Sports “we are receiving a lot of calls from prospective clubs. I must say we are very impressed at the level of interest being shown in the players.”

Tema Youth is not the only club which will be smiling to the bank in the coming days as Winfred Osei “cross-checked with the other club owners who also had representatives in the Satellites squad and they say the future is very bright in terms of prospects. So far we receive nothing short of three calls per day from clubs in Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia, Portugal, Russia, Latvia, Sweden and a host of other countries. This just adds credence to the fact that these boys did well in the Africa Youth Tournament.”.

Ghana’s Black Satellites finished second in the AYC, losing on penalties to the Young Pharoahs of Egypt.
