Parents negotiate to pay school fees after WASSCE

 Nkwatia (E/R), April 12, GNA – Parents of indebted candidates, who are writing the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSE) in the Kwahu area in the Eastern Region, have signed undertaken to settle their children’s fees after the examination.

The Ghana News Agency visited Mpraeso, Nkwatia Presbyterian, Abetifi Presbyterian and Kwahu Tafo Presbyterian Senior High Schools to ascertain progress of the examination.

Mr Seth Amoako, headmaster of Mpraeso SHS, said when school authorities threatened to prevent 745 indebted candidates from writing the examination, their parents  quickly paid  the fees while others negotiated to pay after the WASSCE.

At the Nkwatia Presbyterian SHS, six of the 928 candidates, who owed fees did not turn up to write the examination.

Headmaster of the school, Mr John Appiah, said one student owed the school as much as GH¢1,000.00 but his parents made an undertaken to pay after the examination.
