JOS — The Plateau State Government has blamed cattle rustling for the ethnic violence which resulted in killings and displacement in Langtang North and Wase Local Government Areas of the state in the past one week.
Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Yiljap Abraham, said at the end of a security council meeting, yesterday, that stealing of cows and other criminal activities by some miscreants sowed the bad blood resulting in the hostilities.

He said security agencies in the state had been mandated to bring the criminals to book and prevent them from threatening the peace of the affected areas.
Yiljap described reports on the number of those killed in hostilities in the two local governments as exaggerated.
Added that the Special Task Force maintaining security in the state are to work with other security agencies to track down those behind the violent attacks on communities and restore normalcy.
He said the State Emergency Management Agency has been asked to provide relief for those affected by the violence to minimize their suffering.
