Hearts of Oak have confirmed they are in talks with captain Mahatma Otoo over a renewal of his contract.

The Ghana international’s existing deal with the Phobians expires at the end of the current season.

Fears are rife Hearts could lose their lead striker for absolutely nothing when he decides to walk at the end of the current campaign.

The 21-year-old is stirring interests from several European clubs following his surge in form in recent games.

But Hearts’ Public Relations Officer Muheeb Saeed has assured an announcement of Otoo’s contract renewal will be made soon with negotiations at an advanced stage.

“We are in talks with Mahtama over a contract renewal,” he confirmed.

“Discussions are at an advanced stage so I can only say it is only a matter of time for us to make the announcement of a contract extension.

“The player’s manager is Ashford Tetteh-Oku who is the immediate past administrative manager of the club.

“So things are on course and I will urge the supporters to remain calm.”
