Ghanaians Have Lost Confidence In The EC

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover says Ghanaians have lost confidence in the Electoral Commission (EC) for its inability to file an affidavit to the Supreme Court in the Presidential dispute between Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo, NPP 2012 Presidential candidate and President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the Electoral Commission Chairman, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan cannot stand the heat resulting from the NPP’s Presidential election petition and has therefore resorted to buy time in order to delay the suit.

He believes the EC Chairman is just scared of the case before the Supreme Court and is “trying to buy time” when the Commission was given an ample time to do its research and file the affidavit before the court hearing on April 16 this year.

To him, the EC’s attitude has left the Ghanaian electorate to distrust the Commission and therefore doubt its credibility.

He explained the Commission’s posture on the election case as “a way of trying to buy time. This is clearly a way to drag your feet but the Supreme Court should not tolerate these things. It is time for the case to be looked at to find out the truth. They should not waste time. The Supreme Court should not entertain this matter at all.”

Speaking in an interview on Radio Gold’s newspaper review Wednesday, he commended the NPP legal team for doing a thorough work to expedite the law suit filed against the President and the Electoral Commission, challenging the electoral results in the 2012 Presidential elections.
