Ghanaian starlet Koby Arthur has inked a two-year professional contract with English Npower Championship side Birmingham City, Ghanasoccernet.com can confirm.

The 17-year-old has been rewarded with the deal after impressing with the club’s reserves squad.

The youngster was on the radar of Premier League giants Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea but the Blues have tied him down on a two-year deal.

Arthur joined the Blues from Southern League side Woodford FC after he was spotted by a City scout in 2012 and joined the club as a schoolboy.

Arthur is a powerful striker of the ball and can play any across the middle of the park or in a more advanced role.

He was give a first team squad number by boss Lee Clark ahead of Blues’ nower Championship fixture against Sheffield Wednesday in February 2013 and made his debut as a late substitute against Wolves on April 1, 2013.

He becomes the second Ghanaian player to join Birmingham in recent seasons after Dutch-born Akwasi Asante who is on loan at Shrewsbury Town.
