Former Finance Minister under the Kufuor administration, Mr. Yaw Osafo Marfo has lamented the failure of successive Ministers of State to seek advice from their predecessors in the management of their official portfolios.
According to him, certain institutional lapses could easily have been avoided if consultations and deliberations between the ministers had been made possible.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, the Former Minister said: “I never talked about the economy with the immediate past Finance Minister, Dr Duffuor; neither have I talked to the current Minister, Seth Terkper.”
I am so ready to talk. Why would I talk to Americans and other African Finance Ministers and not talk to my own? I even feel embarrassed about the situation. Personally, I feel if anyone asks my opinion, I give it. We are not talking about Osafo Marfo or Seth Terkper but about Ghana facing specific problems so if someone can help, why not?”
Mr. Osafo Marfo was however quick to note that he was pessimistic about the chances of members of the current government consulting him because of the suspicions between the two main parties.
“Division is doing a lot of harm now because people saying right things are now being misinterpreted.”
