Takoradi, April 9, GNA – A Waakye seller on Tuesday appeared before a Takoradi Magistrates’ court for refusing to pay a market toll and obstructing the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) revenue officers from performing their duties.
The accused, Isha Fanny pleaded not guilty to the offences and would reappear in court on April 17.
The prosecutor for the STMA, Mr. Anthony Hayford told the court presided over by Mr. Thomas Ofedie that on March 26, this year, the accused who is a trader at the Takoradi Central Market refused to pay her market toll of 20 Pesewas and rather hurled insults at the three revenue officers from the STMA.
He said the revenue officers reported the accused to the Metropolitan prosecutor for STMA for prosecution.
The Metro prosecutor said the action was taken to deter other traders.
