NDC Office Locked Out Over Rent Arrears (Photo)

Drama unfolded at Cape Coast on Tuesday when the landlord of the building housing the regional office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Horace Ekow Ewusi locked the office of the party.

The decision of the landlord was as a result of the party’s refusal to pay him rent for almost two years.

The angry landlord, in an interview with Daily Guide, said efforts to retrieve the money had proved futile as the regional executives kept lying to him.

Mr Ewusi mentioned that he spoke to the regional chairman of the party, Adu Yeboah, the regional communication director, Allotey Jacobs, the regional youth organizer, Abeiku Aggrey, among other bigwigs of the party over the matter.

He added that the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA), Dr Ato Quashie first rented the office for the party from him in 1990 and since then they have been using the facility.

Mr Ewusi said the party was expected to pay an amount of GH¢2,000 every month in accordance with the agreement.

He said one of the executives told him on Monday that they had informed the party’s general secretary, Johnson Aseidu Nketia, who was preparing to pay the money very soon. He appealed to the executives to come and retrieve their items since some people have express interest in the facilities.

Efforts to speak to regional communication director, Allotey Jacobs proved futile as his mobile phone was switched off.
