Health Minister: No Need To Panic; Everything Is Under Control

Health Minister Sherry Ayittey says there’s no need for the public to panic despite the threat of withdrawal of all emergency health services by striking Doctors if their grievances are not addressed by next week.

The Minister toured the Ridge and 37 military Hospitals in Accra on Tuesday to mitigate the effect of the Doctors’ strike.

She said all the regional Directors of Health as well as Senior Doctors will be at post during the strike to help the situation.

Doctors in the country say they will withdraw all emergency services from next week if their market premium arrears are not paid in bulk and their pension anomalies are not corrected.

Meanwhile, management of the Ridge Hospital has denied reports by TV3 that two people died at the facility due to the strike.
