Ghana defender David Addy has revealed the enormous relief felt on his return to first team action after being sidelined with injury for up to a month.
The left-back played the entire duration for Vitoria Guimaraes in the 2-1 win over Beira Mar on Sunday.
The 2009 Ghana U20 World Cup winner has however revealed the massive pain felt during his recovery period.
“I was initially supposed to have returned within two weeks after sustaining the injury,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“The injury however got worse by the time I was supposed to have return – meaning I had to spend and extra two weeks on the sidelines.
“It took a lot of work with the team’s medical staff over this period to get me fit again.
“It wasn’t a good feeling so I felt great joy when I came through 90 minutes of football on Sunday with no problems at all.”
Addy has made 17 appearances so far for Vitoria Guimaraes in the Portuguese top flight enjoyed a standing ovation from the team’s fans to herald his return on Sunday.
