Mr. Agyemang’s number was randomly selected from the list of MTN subscribers who participated in the 100-day promotion.
The draw, which took place at the head office of MTN Ghana, Ridge Towers, was supervised by officials from the Gaming Commission, the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and observed by some media personnel.
As part of the promotion, which was launched on December 27, 2012 and ended at midnight on April 7, 2013, subscribers were required to text win to MTN short code 2020 and respond to trivia questions to accumulate points.
Kwadwo Okeyere Amoako, Data and Device Manager Marketing Division at MTN said, ‘So far, three lucky winners have received a sleek Jaguar XF2012 in the monthly draws.
They are Elvis Baidoo, a PhD student of KNUST, Samuel Oduro, an entrepreneur from Sunyani and Prince Owusu Boakye, also a businessman, who deals in electrical appliances and hails from the Ashanti Region.’
He added that a total of 95 people have had their lives enriched with GH¢5,000 each.
Over 9,000 people have also won airtime over the past 95 days while 190 android phones have so far been won by some lucky winners.
During the final draw, David Chaway and Joseph Osei won GH¢5,000 each.
When contacted by officials of MTN on phone, Mr. Agyemang could not hide his joy at news that he had won the ultimate prize.
The father of seven stated that he spent a lot of money on MTN airtime to text to the short code all in the hope of winning the ultimate prize.
He indicated that until the call came from MTN, he had lost hope of winning.
He expressed his profound appreciation to the management and staff of MTN.
MTN has however alerted customers that winners of the daily prizes will be published in the newspapers and on MTN’s website www.mtn.com.gh http://www.mtn.com.gh/ .
Winners will also be contacted via MTN’s official line 0244300000.
Redemption of prizes is free and winners will not be asked to make any payment in cash or in kind.
