The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed has commended the Federal Government on its resolve to grant amnesty to Boko Haram insurgents in parts of the county.
Governor Ahmed, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwahab Oba, also congratulated the sect for its favourable disposition to dialogue saying it is a signpost for peace and harmony in the country.
Dr Ahmed described the Federal Government resolve to explore the possibility of granting amnesty for the Boko Haram members as a bold step that could lead to the restoration of peace not only in Northern Nigeria but in the country as a whole .
Governor Ahmed said : ” I whole heartedly support the granting of amnesty to the Boko Haram members because it will provide a platform for the Boko Haram members to lay their grievances on the table and the Federal Government indeed all Nigerians the platform to understand their grievances”.
Governor Ahmed also called on all Nigerians to be advocates and ambassadors of peace in Nigeria for no society could develop in a state of rancour and violence.
