Accra, April 8, GNA – The Ministry of Information and Media Relations on Monday said President John Dramani Mahama, Ministers and Deputy Ministers including Presidential staffers have not been paid their ex-gratia.

A statement issued by Mr Mahama Ayariga, sector Minister and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the ministers have not receive any ex-gratia from January 7, 2009 to Jan 7 and that the payment of ex-gratia for now only applies to Members of Parliament.

It said the allegations peddled in some media discussions that members of the political elite have paid themselves lump sum of ex-gratia awards and are asking other public servants to accept installment payments for arrears of their 2012 allowances is untrue.

The statement said Ministers and Deputy Ministers may only receive their ex gratia when the concerns of other non-article 71 office holders’ have been equally attended to. GNA
