Reports that Chairman of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, Dr. Christopher Kolade, resigned his appointment, Tuesday, has been denied by his spokesman, Dr. Joel Oruche, who said the technocrat was still on his job.

The social media was awash with the news of Dr. Kolade’s decision to quit the SURE-P job as he was said to have handed his resignation letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, Monday, before he (Jonathan) travelled to Kenya for Uhuru Kenyatta’s inauguration.

However, by mid-day, it was reported that the SURE-P boss had been persuaded to change his mind and therefore decided to stay on.

The technocrat was said to have complained about the politicisation of the programme and  decided to quit in order not to get caught up in the cross-fire between the Federal Government and opposition politicians.

Kolade, Nigeria’s immediate High Commissioner to Britain, was also said to been under pressure by opposition forces who wanted him to quit the SURE-P in order to discredit the Federal Government.
