Jonathan leaves for Kenyatta’s inauguration

Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan left Abuja Monday night for Nairobi to join other African leaders at the inauguration of Kenyan President elect, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati.

Kenyatta will be sworn-in today, Tuesday, as Kenya’s fourth President at the Kasarani Sports Complex in Nairobi.

Kenyatta was officially declared the winner of Kenya’s presidential election on Saturday, March 9 with 50.07 per cent of the vote to clinch a first-round win.

The statement said that the President would be accompanied to the inauguration ceremony by the Acting Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar, Sen. Emmanuel Paulker (PDP-Bayelsa) and the Minister of State (Foreign Affairs), Dr Nurudeen Mohammed.

The president, according to the statement, will return to Abuja immediately after Kenyatta’s inauguration. (NAN)
