Hearts of Oak influential midfielder Moro Abubakar has issued an apology to the club’s fans following his sending off in the MTN FA Cup round of 16 victory over Starke FC on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was shown his second red card of the season when he revenged a reckless tackle on team-mate Romeo Agban from a Starke FC midfielder but the sending little to diminish Hearts’ impetus for victory as they defeated the second-tier side 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Striker Gilbert Fiamenyoh shot the Phobians in front with a close range finish before captain Mahatma Otoo came off the bench to cement the win for David Duncan’s men.

Moro who was handed the Hearts armband for the game holds a lot of regrets about his sending off.

“I send out my sincere apology to all Hearts fans and the club’s authorities. It’s rather unfortunate that I’ll miss a couple of games but that should not demoralise me because I want to get back and prove my worth to the team and continue the forward march,” he told Hearts news.

Moro will miss the trip to AshGold on Sunday as the suspension is carried into the Glo Premier League per the regulations of the competition.

He was sent off at the Golden City Park when Hearts held Berekum Arsenal to a 2-2 drawn game in the first round of the Glo Premier League.
