Anambra/Kogi border clash: 2 more persons shot

BY VINCENT UJUMADU

AWKA — TWO people sustained gun shot wounds in a renewed violence at the boundary communities between Aguleri-Otu in Anambra State and Echonwa/Ideke in Kogi state.

Those wounded are receiving treatment in a private hospital.

Special Adviser to Anambra State Governor on Security, Col George Molokwu, confirmed the incident, although he said the casualty figure was exaggerated.

Molokwu said: “I am aware there were fresh skirmishes for two days now, that is on Saturday and on Sunday. I was told that two were hospitalized in the hospital because of gun shot wounds. I have told the police to search for the hospital and feed us back.

‘’I was surprised at the latest development because Kogi and Anambra states governors have spoken on the need for calm and peace to be sustained on this issue of boundary between two brotherly communities.
