Rennes defender John Boye is being hailed by the French newspapers for his outstanding display on Saturday by stopping PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Ghana international, who was named man-of-the-match for Rennes, was hailed for completely dominating the highly rated Swedish striker in the game.
Ibrahimovic is the tallest player in the French top-flight but Boye dominated the PSG striker in the aerial challenges which resulted in the newspapers taking notice of the performance of the Ghanaian.
‘Ouest France’ described the Ghanaian’s performance by writing “Boye had a big game dominating the PSG strikers including Ibrahimovic. He was energetic without restraint.”
Boye was rated the club’s best player in the game as he was rated 6.5, the highest rating a Rennes player got after the game.
Despite Boye’s performance, Rennes suffered a 2-0 home defeat to PSG with Goals from Jeremy Menez and Ibrahimovic.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men restored their seven point lead at the top of Ligue 1 with Boye picking up a 32nd minute booking in the game played at the Stade de la Route de Lorient.
