JTF uncovers 23 illegal oil bunkering sites in Anambra

AWKA — THE joint team of Nigerian Army and Naval officials, Monday discovered over 23 illegal oil bunkering sites in Anambra State and equipment worth about N500 million.

The General Officer Commanding, GOC, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Olaniyi who led a combined team of the Army and Navy to various sites at Ogbakuba in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, expressed surprise at the discovery, describing it as a high level of economic sabotage.

According to him, the current spate of illegal oil bunkering business in various parts of the country had continued to undermine the economy of Nigeria and vowed that the army and other security agencies would intensify efforts  to address the ugly situation.

He said: “I am short of words.  What is happening here is very alarming and I make bold to say that this is at variance with the developmental agenda of Mr. President because where oil bunkering thrives; it will continue to sabotage our economy.”
