Ghana U20 winger Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi will be out for an estimated two-week period with an ankle injury, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The 19-year-old returned to his club, Maritzburg United with the injury sustained at the 2013 African Youth Championships where he featured for the Black Satellites team that won silver in Algeria.
The former Wa All Stars was initially feared to have torn ligaments in his ankle but further examination showed it was just a sprain.
Doctors have now estimated a recovery period of two weeks for the swift Ghana U20 winger.
The injury news is unlikely to go down well with Maritzburg manager Ernst Middendorp who was said to not be in favour of Sarfo-Gyamfi’s release for the African Youth Championships.
He now has to make do with a further two-week period without his key winger in the South African topflight.
Maritzburg United are already depleted with injury to Ghana defender Awal Mohammed whose recovery time schedule is yet to be revealed.
The Team of Choice are currently fifth in their continuous fight to finish a high as possible in the South African top flight.
