Esperance defender Harrison Afful is disappointed with the miss opportunity to play against his former club Asante Kotoko in the CAF Champions League.
Kotoko missed the chance to set-up a dream clash against the Tunisia giants after exiting the competition.
Their 1-1 home draw against Algerian side JSM Bejaia was not enough to see them through and their former player has expressed his sadness for the turn of events.
“I wanted to meet my former club Asante Kotoko but it did not happen,” Afful said
“I am very sad but that is the nature of the game.
“I encourage them (Kotoko) to keep playing hard and hope in the next year, they will progress to the next stages.
“This is not the end that is how football is like, they should keep exhibiting good football and in future they will get there.
“The management and supporters should come together and work as one and everything will be in place.”
Esperance have thus set-up a date with JSM Bejaia in the final qualifying round.
