Medeama dismissed Berekum Chelsea 3-1 on penalties to reach the last eight of the MTN Ghana FA Cup on Sunday.

The league leaders managed to draw 1-1 with the visitors at the Tarkwa T&A Park.

Defender Godfred Rockson converted  a spot-kick on 19 minutes to give the Mauves and Yellows the opener.

Berekum Chelsea pressed hard for the equalizer and snatched it in the 53rd minute after knocking on the door several times.

Striker Abdul Wahab scored the goal to draw them level but both sides could not secure the match winner in regulation.

Medeama goalkeeper Muntari Tagoe saved one of Chelsea’s kicks as they won the lottery of the shoot-outs.

They have a three point advantage over Berekum Chelsea at the top of the Ghana Premier League table with ten matches left to be cleared.
