Ghana midfielder Christian Atsu is set to play his first match for Portuguese side Porto on Monday after recovering from injury, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 21-year-old has been named in the club’s 18-man squad to face Braga on Monday night.

Atsu returned to training with the side on Saturday, the first time since suffering an ankle injury last month.

The talented winger rejoined the first team after recovering from the setback as they prepared for Monday’s top-flight match against Braga.

Atsu picked up an ankle injury three weeks ago and has not been involved for the Portuguese side since then.

He suffered an ankle sprain three weeks ago in a league game ruling him out of the Ghana – Sudan 2014 World Cup qualifier last month.

His return to training means he could return to action for Porto in their match against Braga.

The winger, who has made 14 appearances for FC Porto with a goal to his name, is one of the Dragons’ key players.

His return is also a boost for Ghana who travel to Khartoum to play Sudan in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.

Porto squad for Braga game: Helton, Fabiano, Danilo, Maicon, Abdoulaye Ba, Otamendi, Héctor Quiñones, Alex Sandro, Fernando, João Moutinho, André Castro, Lucho González, Steven Defour, Kelvin, James Rodriguez, Christian Atsu, Jackson Martinez and Liedson.
