Amosun mourns Ekiti Dep Gov’s death

Abeokuta – Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun has expressed shock and disbelief at the death of the Deputy Governor of Ekiti, Mrs Olufunmilayo Olayinka.

Gov. Kayode Fayemi broke the sad news on Saturday of the passing of Olayinka who died at age of 52.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Mrs Funmi Wakama, Amosun described Olayinka’s death as lamentable and a great loss to the government and people of Ekiti.

Amosun condoled with the government and people of Ekiti, recalling her struggle alongside Fayemi during and after the 2007 governorship election.

“She was a committed member of the Action Congress of Nigeria who contributed immensely to the development of Ekiti State.

“She was also an embodiment of humility and selfless service. She will be sorely missed,” the statement reads in parts.

The governor prayed God to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest and her family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. (NAN)
