In an event that will go down the annals of history for ages to come, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Spain has successfully premiered its first Nollywood movie titled ‘The Pastors’.
The date was Sunday the 31st of March 2013 and the city was Parla in Madrid, Spain. It was an event that the residents of Madrid and cinema lovers across Europe brazed up to in fashionable style.
The premiere that officially started at about 5pm opened with a breathtaking Red Carpet with Spanish press in attendance. The elegance of the event was let loose in the course of the Red Carpet as attendees flaunted colourful dresses and designs. Meanwhile some seized the moment to take pictures with the actors while the actors took turns to grant interviews to the Spanish press.
At about 6:30pm, selected Europe based Nigeria Afro Hip Hop singers like Manfesto, Mike Negro and Joy Bishop began to entertain the audience in preparation for the movie stream. Just before the movie began to stream, the director and President of AGN Spain, Comrade Lamptay Oriakhi expressed gratitude to everyone that had sacrificed towards making the event a reality.
Comrade Lamptay Oriakhi stated that Spain and most parts of Western Europe is a virgin land to Nollywood products. He called on Nigerian movie producers to begin to take a look at the prospect of a more consolidated Nollywood movie market in Europe. He further affirmed that AGN Spain is committed to breaking necessary and relevant grounds for the Nollywood industry to thrive.
At the end of the movie premiere, many of the Spanish and European attendees expressed delight at the originality of the issues the movie treated. They also expressed gratitude for the courage shone by the producers of the movie. Some opined that Nollywood movies would be a much needed impetus that would not only promote African culture but would also serve as a much needed product for choice and variety.
The Pastors is billed to be premiered across Europe with dates already fixed for Milan, Brussels, Paris, Barcelona, Moscow, Zaragoza and Almeria.
