Heart of Lions defeated second-tier side Mighty Jets 2-0 to reach the MTN FA Cup quarter-finals on Saturday at the Kpando Park.

Young attacker Prosper Avor and captain Daniel Acquaye scored in either halves to give the ‘Giant Killers’ a comfortable win over the former Premier League side on home grounds.

Sarfo Castro’s men has enjoyed an inconsistent season in the Ghanaian top-flight but have their focus full on the FA Cup title.

Jets were among the few clubs left in the competition from the second-tier and were well prepared to shock their host.

But an expertly converted chance from the edge of the box in the 34th minute put Lions 1-0 ahead.

The Tudu-based side created some few chances and dominated play after the recess but were unlucky to fall behind again as Avor, the scorer of the first goal, was fouled inside the box.

Referee Fred Andoh pointed to the spot and captain Daniel Acquaye stepped up and blasted the ball home to cement the win for Lions and secure a quarter-final spot.
