Otto Addo has backed Dortmund to win this year's Uefa Champions League

Ex-Ghana international Otto Addo is backing Borussia Dortmund to claim this year’s Uefa Champions League crown.

Dortmund have been in fine form in Europe this season with impressive results in Europe’s elite inter- club competition.

The German giants are bookmakers favourites to advance to the semi-finals of this year’s competition after grinding out a pulsating goalless draw at Malaga on Wednesday.

The German champions progressed from a difficult group which comprised of Real Madrid, Ajam Amsterdam and Manchester City.

The 37-year-old who played for Dortmund between 1999-2005 believes his former club have enough depth in quality to win the title at the expense of Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“Why can’t they win it? The prevailed in the group stage against Real Madrid, Ajax and Manchester City.” Otto told Goal.com

“This shows that they have high quality and can match anyone at the highest level in Europe.

“Malaga have a good team and many are surprised that they made it to the quarter-finals.

“They have players with lots of international areas and an outstanding playmaker like Isco, who can decide the game on his own.

“I think Dortmund want to give it in every match. They subconsciously are motivated to win a competition they haven’t won.

“Therefore they have gone into these games a little more focused.”

Dortmund are a staggering 20 points behind run-away champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
