Taribo West: The former Nigerian international accused of lying about his age during his career

Still revelations that will be debated in the country of the Super Eagles .

Taribo West, the former Nigerian international recognizable by his green and multicolored braids, has repeatedly lied about his age during his career.

According to the British newspaper Daily Mail , West in 2002 left the English team Derby County to Serbia and Partizan Belgrade. The player told his new team that he was 28 years old whereas the British publication discovered that Taribo was already approaching 40 years . Clearly, this did not bother the Serbian club that had signed for two seasons in which he won a national title.

“He joined us and said he was 28 years old,” he told Zako Zecevic, former president of Partizan. “We only found out later that he was 40, but he was still playing so I do not regret having him in the team,” he added.

Taribo West began his career in 1992 at the club of Julius Berger in Nigeria before hanging in Iran in Paykan FC in 2008.

He also played in the colors of Inter Milan in Italy. With 41 selections with the Super Eagles, he won the gold medal at the Atlanta Olympics in 1996 .
