Nyantakyi backs Ghana U20 to win World Cup

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has no doubts the Black Satellites can win the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup this summer in Turkey.

Nyantakyi heaped praise on the team which fought gallantly to lose 5-4 on penalties to Egypt in the final of the African Youth Championship in Algeria last Saturday.

The team have been handed a tough draw alongside powerhouses Spain, France and USA in Group A.

But Nyantakyi believes the team have the credentials to win a second FIFA World Youth trophy.

“Three of you were chosen among the best XI, two of you in the reserve team and you made us every proud with this performance,” Nyantakyi told the contingent on their arrival in Accra.

“We are looking forward that at the World Cup in June/July in Turkey, this team will make a case for Ghana.

“We lost this championship by inches through the penalty shoot-out and I hope the technical team will pick up the pieces for us to go to Turkey and win this time not silver but gold.”

Ghana became the first African country to win the tournament in 2009 by beating Brazil on penalties.
